A recent open house event at StoneCrest’s Sarah Cannon Cancer Center celebrated the opening of the new Minnie Pearl Cancer Foundation Resource Room. The Resource Room serves as a quiet place for those impacted by cancer to navigate their way through the diagnosis. Offering cancer educational material on a variety of subjects including clinical trials and special nutritional requirements, the new space also features survivor art and a computer workstation for connecting with licensed oncology professionals at The Minnie Pearl Cancer Foundation and for conducting additional Internet research.
The Resource Room was funded from past Pearl Ball event proceeds. The Pearl Ball is a gala presented by Stonecrest Medical Center with proceeds benefiting The Minnie Pearl Cancer Foundation.
Open house event attendees included hospital staff members, community members, and Susan Hosbach, executive director at The Minnie Pearl Cancer Foundation.
“The opening of this Resource Room enables us to extend a physical presence to those in the Rutherford County area who are coping with cancer,” says Hosbach, executive director of The Minnie Pearl Cancer Foundation. “Our hope is to continue to reach more adults from the moment of diagnosis with our compassionate, personalized guidance. “
The Resource Room is available for use by caregivers and cancer patients at no cost. Visit minniepearl.org for more information on the services provided by The Minnie Pearl Cancer Foundation.
