Longtime Sumner County resident Darrell White, RN, has been named Director of Patient Care Services at Portland Medical Center, hospital officials recently announced.

“We’re excited to have Darrell on board with us,” said hospital administrator Barbara Marsh. “Portland is very fortunate to have his experience on our side, as he is a nurse of the highest caliber.”

White served as a paramedic with the Nashville Fire Department for 18 years, graduating with a nursing degree from Tennessee State University in the middle of his time there. He also attended Critical Care nursing school and returned to school five years ago to attain a Master of Business Administration degree with an emphasis in Healthcare Management. White has 15 years experience as an Emergency Room registered nurse and has been a nursing manager for a decade.

White and his wife, of 20 years, Sheri, live in Cottontown. They have two children and four grandchildren.
