The American Red Cross is offering an opportunity to win Taylor Swift concert tickets to anyone who presents to donate blood this summer. Take some time out of your day to give blood, save lives, and register to win concert tickets. Summit Medical Center is hosting a blood drive on Thursday, September 3, from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Classrooms D and E on the ground floor of the hospital (near the Visitor Entrance). Nationwide, someone needs a unit of blood every 2 to 3 seconds, and most of us will need blood in our lifetime. There is always a need for blood and only volunteer donors can fulfill that need for patients in our community.

SUMMIT’S LEBANON LOCATIONS CELEBRATE THEIR FIRST YEAR

Wrap up your summer with free sno-cones, hotdogs, and a new flatscreen TV! Summit Convenient Care at Lebanon and Summit Imaging at Lebanon are celebrating their One Year Anniversary with a family fun celebration, which will include door prize giveaways such as a flatscreen TV and iPod. Games, facepainting, inflatables for the kids, free food, and health screenings will be part of the festivities. This free community event will be held on Saturday, September 12 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Summit Convenient Care at Lebanon and Summit Imaging at Lebanon.

Hendersonville Medical Center Offers Free Prostate Cancer Screening

Prostate cancer is the most common cancer, other than skin cancers, in American men. About 1 man in 6 will be diagnosed with prostate cancer during his lifetime, but only 1 man in 35 will die of it. More than 2 million men in the United States who have been diagnosed with prostate cancer at some point are still alive today.

The Society of Chest Pain Centers has once again designated Hendersonville Medical Center as an accredited chest pain center with cycle three accreditation, the facility announced today. Hendersonville Medical Center first earned accreditation in 2003.

Summit Medical Center is hosting a craft fair on Friday, September 18 from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the Patient Entrance Lobby. New and repeat vendors are welcome to join in this community craft fair. Proceeds from the booth rental benefit the Employee Benevolence Fund, which provides assistance to staff members enduring financial hardships.

Prostate cancer is the most common cancer among men, and every 19 minutes a man dies from this illness. Dr. C. Heath Hawkins, M.D., urologist at Summit Medical Center, will be discussing the importance of early detection of prostate cancer at a free seminar. The seminar will be held Thursday, August 27 at 11:30 a.m. in Classrooms D/E, located near the Visitor Entrance on the Ground Floor of Summit Medical Center.
