At TriStar Hendersonville, our wound care team is committed to healthier tomorrows for our patients with chronic wounds who are high risk for foot and leg amputation. Wallace "Randy" Norton, a Hendersonville resident originally from Southern Georgia, expresses gratitude to TriStar Hendersonville's wound care team for their unwavering dedication in preserving his legs and overall well-being.

Randy, a retired service manager and part-time employee at a local home improvement store, faced debilitating wounds that left him immobile a year ago. Thanks to immediate treatment and referrals, his condition improved under the care of Dr. Timothy Noonan and the wound care staff at TriStar Hendersonville.

Facing the prospect of leg amputation six months ago, Norton credits the team's perseverance for his remarkable progress. With weekly treatments over 140 weeks, his left leg is nearly healed, and the right leg is following suit.

“My wounds were so bad that six months ago, we were considering amputating my legs,” said Randy. “But the care team wouldn’t give up. Everyone kept fighting for me, and today my left leg is almost healed and the right leg is on the way to healing. I have been to three different wound cares, but this team is top and came together to help me, never giving up on helping me heal.”

TriStar Hendersonville's wound care services encompass a range of treatments, including vascular studies, biopsies and medicated wrapping. Referrals to specialists, nutritional studies and hyperbaric oxygen therapy are also available.

“When Randy came to us, we completed vascular studies and biopsies of his wounds to determine the best steps towards healing,” said Tonya Gilley, RN, manager of the Advanced Wound Care Center. “About six months ago, Randy seriously considered amputation of his legs, but our team worked with him and encouraged him to continue down the treatment path. We are so proud to say that we have been able to almost completely heal his wounds.”

Randy emphasizes the importance of perseverance and gratitude, expressing his love and appreciation for the care team. He encourages others facing similar challenges to seek support and remain hopeful.

“The wound care team are truly miracle workers and I tell them all the time I love them,” said Randy. “There is help and great care here, and anyone who is suffering just needs to keep going, look up and not down. I drive, cook and continue to work thanks to the continued support of this team and my family. I am grateful to them for helping to save my legs.”
