Pharmacy residency overview

Our program is for doctor of pharmacy (PharmD) graduates who want to partake in enhanced pharmacy services at our facility and improving patient care. Our residency program offers:

Our mission

Our PGY1 pharmacy residency program at TriStar Summit Medical Center seeks to build on your PharmD education and to contribute to the development of clinical pharmacists responsible for medication-related care of patients.

Graduates of our program will be eligible for board certification, postgraduate year two (PGY-2) pharmacy residency training or beginning careers as confident and competent clinical pharmacy practitioners.

About our hospital

We are proud to have provided 25 years of quality healthcare to Davidson and Wilson counties and the surrounding communities. Our hospital is a 200-bed comprehensive facility offering a full array of acute care services. Our location has more than 300 board-certified physicians representing over 36 medical specialties, many of whom have offices located on our campus.

As an Accredited Chest Pain Center with PCI and a Primary Stroke Center, our facility is also a leading emergency heart and stroke care provider.

Our pharmacy team is a well-established, well-respected, integral part of the patient care team. Providers, nurses and other staff regard our pharmacists as experts and depend on their advice to improve outcomes for our patients.

Candidate requirements

Candidates must meet requirements to be considered for our program, including:

Graduation and licensure

The resident must have received a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an accredited School of Pharmacy. Residents are required to become licensed pharmacists in the state of Tennessee.

The following information must be submitted through the Pharmacy Online Residency Centralized Application Service (PhORCAS) operated by American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP):

  • Three letters of recommendation

Interviews

Select candidates will be invited for on-site interviews in January and February.
