Cardiac rehabilitation
Cardiac rehabilitation aims to help you recover from a cardiovascular event — such as a heart attack or heart failure — or other debilitating heart condition. This recovery process usually involves physical therapy, exercise and education to rebuild and maintain your heart strength.
Our cardiac therapy services
We offer a supervised outpatient cardiac rehabilitation program to help you recover from heart attacks, heart surgery, stent placement and angioplasty.
Outpatient cardiac rehabilitation
Our program is designed to help you improve your quality of life and educate you on topics surrounding cardiac disease and self-management.
To help you increase your physical fitness and reduce the risk of developing future cardiac problems, our multidisciplinary heart rehabilitation team offers:
- Counseling services
- Diet instructions
- Disease management
- Education
- Monitored exercise
Cardiac therapy exercise sessions
Depending on each patient's individual treatment plan, exercise therapy sessions are scheduled three days each week for up to 12 weeks. During these sessions, blood pressure, heart rate, oxygen saturation and blood glucose (for those who have diabetes) levels are monitored to ensure safety at all times. A doctor will be available in the adjoining area during these exercise sessions.
Cardiac rehab referral
Entrance into the cardiac rehab program requires a doctor's referral. Any physician is able to refer a patient for cardiac therapy. The referring doctor will receive reports regarding progress in the individualized treatment plan we have developed for their patient.
