TriStar Summit Medical Center added 18 new ICU beds today, as they opened their new Tower project.
Hermitage, TN – TriStar Summit Medical Center is proud to announce the completion of its new three-story tower project, which adds 119,504 square feet and expands the hospital’s critical care capacity. This two-year, $76 million project features an updated visitor lobby and a new cafeteria.
“TriStar Summit Medical Center is continually expanding its services to meet the needs of the growing communities we serve. The opening of this new tower allows us to treat more critical care patients in a state-of-the-art ICU equipped with the latest technology,” said Daphne David, chief executive officer at TriStar Summit Medical Center.
The hospital’s new expansive visitor lobby provides direct access to patient floors and the new cafeteria, named the Frist Café. The ground floor and first floor now connect to the new tower and its updated ICU, which adds 18 critical care beds, increasing the hospital’s total critical care capacity to 40 ICU beds. The second floor of the tower will serve as patient care space and has been designed with infrastructure for future growth.
The new Frist Café, located on the ground floor next to the visitor lobby, offers more indoor seating and new outdoor seating area for guests and colleagues. The outdoor patio is named the “Ponder Patio” in honor of the hospital’s first non-medical board chair, Phil Ponder. Ponder is a well-known local artist and community advocate.
