Heart disease doesn’t discriminate — it can impact anyone, at any time, regardless of age or lifestyle. At TriStar NorthCrest Medical Center, we are honored to share the story of one of our own, Gloria Moore, a dedicated team member in our Health Information Department and a 15-year heart disease survivor.

Gloria's journey began on what seemed like an ordinary day. She arrived at work, went downstairs to grab breakfast, and on her way back to her desk, she was suddenly struck by an unfamiliar sensation — a heavy, crushing feeling in her chest. It was unlike anything she had ever experienced before. Recognizing that something wasn’t right, she made the life-saving decision to seek help from the emergency department.

From there, Gloria was rushed to the cardiac cath lab, where doctors discovered three severe blockages in her heart. She was immediately admitted to the intensive care unit and then transferred to TriStar Centennial Medical Center, where she underwent open-heart surgery the very next day.

What makes Gloria’s story even more powerful is that she had just turned 50 and had no prior symptoms. Like so many others, she had no warning signs — just one pivotal moment that changed her life forever.

Today, Gloria considers herself incredibly blessed to be here, sharing her experience, raising awareness about heart disease. Her story serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of recognizing the signs, acting quickly, and prioritizing heart health.

As we continue our commitment to heart health awareness during American Heart Month, we celebrate Gloria’s resilience and the many others who have faced heart disease.

Know the signs. Listen to your body. And never hesitate to seek help.
