Introducing the Clinical Pearls Series

Experts and technological advances are saving and improving lives every day. Our mission reminds us that the people delivering and facilitating patient care, or connecting patients to the right experts for their personal healthcare needs, have the opportunity to truly make a lasting difference in the lives of our patients.

Our mission: Above all else, we are committed to the care and improvement of human life.

Our physicians, nurses, ancillary staff, non-clinical support staff, volunteers and administrators all contribute to providing compassionate and quality care to each and every patient.

One of those physicians is Karl VanDevender, MD.

Dr. Karl VanDevender visits with a patient at the bedside in TriStar Centennial Medical Center, where he continues our legacy of providing compassionate care.

Dr. VanDevender is a mentor, counselor and friend. He is the person you call when you have the most difficult decision to make. He is an advocate for patients and caregivers. He is the moral compass for our hospital. He is the continuation of the legacy of our founder Dr. Thomas Frist, Sr.

What is a clinical pearl?

In the absence of evidence-based care, we look to the clinical art of medicine. These are high value points that you can take and use in your practice.

These clinical pearls are invaluable, just like Dr. VanDevender.

In his honor, we have created the The Karl VanDevender Clinical Pearls Series. Topics will include the most cutting edge advancements and new care delivery methods in cardiovascular care. The honorary lecture series will continue every year as part of the annual TriStar Health Cardiovascular Symposium.

It was my privilege to introduce the lecture series during the 2017 TriStar Health Cardiovascular Symposium and present the inaugural Karl VanDevender Clinical Pearls Series: The Aorta.
