"After 21 hours of labor, he was coming, there was no stopping it. My husband stops to pray out loud...half of the room is in tears. For me to be able to have a natural delivery, without a cesarean, with zero complications, for a baby we didn’t know we were going to have, at 43-years-old, is absolutely a miracle," mom Tennille McVetty said.

Tennille and her husband, Walter, have been married for 21 years and always envisioned having a family of their own. They tried to conceive naturally and didn't have any luck. So, they became foster parents and eventually adopted 6 amazing girls. This past fall, Tennille went to the emergency room with some abdominal pain. That's where she learned she was pregnant and 25 weeks along. Hours later, Walter drove her back to the hospital because she was in labor! Tennille was then transferred to TriStar Centennial to give birth. Baby Daniel weighed 2 ½ pounds at birth and spent more than 90 days in our NICU before heading home.

"We are people of faith. That's a big part of our lives and we personally believe God had His hand in it," Tennille said.

During Daniel's stay in our NICU, our care teams worked closely to ensure he received the care he needed. NICU nurse Sophie Treski was part of his care team and says his stay truly gave her a whole different level of love for her career as a nurse.

"I first cared for Daniel upstairs in our NICU when he was still a tiny tot in his isolette. From the beginning, he had this sweet, yet fiery personality that made me fall in love with him! Not only was Daniel special because of his story, but his amazing parents instantly made me feel comfortable, valued, and important as his nurse. Daniel is a miracle and I feel so blessed that I was a small part in his journey!" NICU Nurse Sophie Treski said.
