Emergency care

Emergency care is the treatment of unexpected, severe medical injuries or infections. It is typically delivered in an emergency room or an ambulance. Our emergency medicine physicians stabilize your condition as quickly as possible to prepare you for the next step of care or discharge.

Sensory-friendly program

We are proud to offer sensory-friendly rooms at our pediatric ER. These rooms have adaptable lights and monitors with adjustable sound controls. Additionally, all of our emergency room physicians, nurses and staff are trained in autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and sensitive to environmental and communication concerns.

If your child has ASD or another communication disorder, please notify the receptionists when you arrive. You can fill out a questionnaire that will help us identify ways we can best care for your family.

Specialized pediatric services

Because our pediatric emergency department is a part of a larger hospital network, we offer many services just for kids. Some of these specialty areas include:

Neonatal intensive care

If your baby was born critically ill or prematurely, the team at our Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) is ready to help them heal. We provide comprehensive critical care for babies born at less than 32 weeks of gestation. We also offer 24/7 monitoring for parents and a multidisciplinary team of neonatology specialists.

Children's care in the TriStar Health network

Our pediatric care does not stop downtown — we are proud to serve communities all across Middle Tennessee and South Central Kentucky. Our connected TriStar Health family gives your child access to the pediatric resources here at TriStar Centennial Children's Hospital for seamless coordination of care when you need it most.
