NICU

The neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) provides critical care to newborns who are ill or premature. Many factors may lead to a newborn being admitted to the NICU, including low birth weight or complications during delivery. The NICU staff works closely with parents to develop a treatment plan for their newborn.

Level III NICU

Our Level III NICU delivers care for babies who are born at less than 32 weeks gestation or are critically ill. Our goal is to help your baby quickly reach a level of maturity and health so they can safely go home with you.

We use state-of-the-art monitoring equipment and diagnostic tools to ensure babies receive treatment and care that facilitates an environment of healing. Additionally, we provide a low stimulation environment to nurture the development of our most premature babies.

Experienced neonatal staff

Our highly-trained neonatologists and neonatal nurse practitioners are available 24/7 at our hospital. They work as part of a multidisciplinary team to develop the best treatment plan for your baby.

Our NICU team includes:

  • Case managers
  • Lactation consultants
  • Massage therapists
  • Neonatologists
  • Occupational therapists
  • Physical therapists
  • Respiratory therapists
  • Social workers
  • Specialty-trained nurses
  • Speech therapists

When needed, we also offer advanced diagnostics and treatment for infants needing specialized care in pediatric cardiology, endocrinology and radiology.

Family-centered care

Bonding with your baby is crucial during the first days and weeks after birth. To maximize bonding time and experiences, our NICU staff is committed to making families a central part of the care plan while we provide high-quality support for infants.

Remote NICU video cameras

Even when families are away from the hospital, they can still view their baby 24/7. The NICU has 60 cameras that stream live visual images of your infant through a secure online portal. The passcode-protected portal allows you and your family to view your baby with any device connected to the internet any time you are away from the hospital.

Neonatal transport services

Our neonatal transport team ensures babies born at any of our TriStar Health hospitals who need the care and attention provided by our Level III NICU can be brought to us quickly and safely. The highly-skilled group includes a neonatal nurse practitioner, a respiratory therapist and a registered nurse. They provide stabilization and transport of premature or critically ill infants and are equipped to facilitate high-risk births.
