TriStar Skyline expands epilepsy care with new Comprehensive Epilepsy Center
TriStar Skyline Medical Center is advancing epilepsy care with the launch of its new Comprehensive Epilepsy Center, providing specialized diagnosis, treatment and support for patients living with epilepsy. This center brings together a team of highly trained specialists and state-of-the-art technology to improve outcomes for patients with complex seizure disorders.
The Comprehensive Epilepsy Center is comprised of multiple integrated services, including:
- Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU): A specialized inpatient unit equipped with advanced video EEG technology to track seizures in real-time, allowing for precise diagnosis and personalized treatment plans.
- Outpatient Epilepsy Clinic: Offering ongoing evaluation, medication management and access to innovative treatments for epilepsy patients.
- Multidisciplinary Team: Board-certified neurologists, epilepsy specialists, pharmacists, nurses, radiologists and various specialized technicians working together to provide comprehensive care.
- Epilepsy Support Group: A dedicated community resource for patients, families and caregivers to share experiences, receive education and find support.
"Epilepsy is a complex neurological condition that requires a coordinated approach to care," said Dr. Samir Bangalore, neurologist and epilepsy specialist at TriStar Skyline Medical Center. "With the new Comprehensive Epilepsy Center, we can better identify seizure patterns, optimize treatments and provide essential support for patients and their families."
According to the CDC, epilepsy affects 3.4 million Americans, with many facing challenges related to diagnosis, treatment and stigma. Over one-third of epilepsy cases are resistant to medication, requiring specialized interventions like those provided at TriStar Skyline’s Comprehensive Epilepsy Center.
"At TriStar Skyline, we recognize the significant impact epilepsy has on individuals and their loved ones," said Brian Marger, chief executive officer of TriStar Skyline Medical Center. "By launching this center, we are strengthening our commitment to delivering high-quality epilepsy care and creating a supportive environment with expert caregivers and advanced technology."
TriStar Skyline’s Epilepsy Support Group will host its first meeting on April 10 from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. in Auditorium B on the hospital’s ground floor. Virtual participation is also available. The group will meet monthly and feature expert speakers, patient stories and discussions on managing epilepsy.
