Emergency care is the treatment of unexpected, severe medical injuries or infections. It is typically delivered in an emergency room or an ambulance. Our emergency medicine physicians stabilize your condition as quickly as possible to prepare you for the next step of care or discharge.

Conditions we treat in the emergency room
Sometimes it may be a hard to know whether you should go to the hospital, but in general, signs that you need emergency care include:
- Bleeding that can't be stopped
- Blood in the urine or bloody diarrhea
- Chest pain
- Coughing or vomiting blood
- Fainting or dizziness
- Fractures
- Intense abdominal pain
- Severe sprains or dislocations
- Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
Our emergency room services
Our emergency room offers advanced medical imaging technologies for fast and accurate test results. We also have a helipad for air ambulances and provide rapid assessments of cardiac disease and trauma.
Trauma center
Our Level III trauma center has been accredited by the Tennessee Board for Licensing Health Care Facilities. This means our hospital is equipped to provide prompt emergency trauma services including stabilization, resuscitation, advanced surgery and intensive care for traumatic injuries.
A traumatic injury is an injury with the potential to cause long-term disability or death. If you have experienced this type of injury or any other medical emergency, call 911. A paramedic will provide an initial assessment and decide if you need trauma care.

Getting to the emergency room
The TriStar Horizon emergency department is near the intersection of Mathis Drive and Henslee Drive. We are on the northwest side of the hospital's main campus. Turn into the hospital's parking lot from College Street/Highway 70, and follow signs to the emergency room entrance and nearby parking. You can also reach us from Mathis Drive.
The TriStar Natchez ER is located east of Highway 46, approximately one mile south of Interstate 40. Follow signs toward the ER entrance, which is on the north side of the medical plaza.
