Multidisciplinary orthopedic team
Our experienced orthopedic team brings together specialists from across disciplines to ensure that you are always receiving the best care from our orthopedic surgeons, physical therapists, case managers and other caregivers. We believe in offering a comprehensive approach to orthopedics in a compassionate, comfortable setting.
Bone density testing
A bone density test, or dual energy X-ray absorptiometry (DEXA) scan, is an exam your doctor may recommend as part of your orthopedic care. DEXA scans use two low-dose X-rays absorbed differently by bones and soft tissues. Doctors can use the density profiles from these X-rays to calculate bone mineral density. This allows doctors to screen for osteoporosis (a disease in which the density and quality of bone are reduced).
Our orthopedic surgeons are board certified and trained in a variety of procedures, including:
- ACL repair
- Arthritis management
- Bone fracture management and repair
- Bone grafts
- Carpal tunnel release
- Foot and ankle surgery
- Hand/upper extremity surgery
- Joint replacements
- Muscle, joint and tendon transfer
- Reconstructive and orthopedic trauma surgery
- Rotator cuff repair
- Spine surgery (e.g., lumbar laminectomy)
Our orthopedic surgeons are highly skilled in innovative knee replacement procedures that maximize function and minimize the recovery period. Based on your unique condition, your orthopedic doctor may recommend:
- Total knee replacement
- Partial knee replacement or resurfacing (replacing only the damaged parts of the knee joint)
- Revision surgery
We offer anterior and posterior hip replacement procedures. Both types of hip replacement involve replacing damaged bone with an artificial joint.
We offer advanced technology for our anterior total hip replacement procedures. We use an advanced platform designed for the precise placement of the patient's body during the procedure. This configurable operating helps surgeons preserve muscle around the hip joint, minimize scar tissue and reduce the total recovery time a patient needs.
Muscle sparing surgery
Your orthopedic team may recommend muscle sparing hip replacement surgery - an anterior technique where no muscles are cut. This approach drastically reduces pain and recovery time compared to traditional surgery.
Patients can also receive shoulder replacement surgery at our hospital. We offer traditional shoulder replacement and reverse replacement.
Traditional shoulder replacement involves replacing the damaged parts of the shoulder with artificial components. However, for patients with a rotator cuff injury, traditional shoulder replacement is not always an option. This is because, with a torn rotator cuff, the socket of the implant is prone to loosening.
A reverse shoulder replacement was designed for patients who have arthritis of the shoulder and/or a rotator cuff injury. During this procedure, the ball and socket parts of the artificial shoulder joint are reversed (i.e., the ball is placed on the socket side of the joint).
Joint replacement classes
We offer joint replacement classes to help you decide if joint surgery is right for you. These classes are designed to both increase your knowledge about the procedure and relieve any anxiety about treatment. We will cover the entire experience at our hospital, from the preoperative process to the recovery period.
For more information or to register, check our calendar for upcoming joint replacement classes.
Our orthopedic team also provides sports medicine for injuries related to athletics and active lifestyles. We treat conditions such as:
- Torn muscles or tendons
- Anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injuries
- Rotator cuff injuries
Physical therapy and rehabilitation
For many patients, physical therapy is a vital part of the recovery process. Our therapists can work with you to create a custom rehabilitation plan designed to maximize your range of motion and strength following surgery.
