Emergency care
Emergency care is the treatment of unexpected, severe medical injuries or infections. It is typically delivered in an emergency room or an ambulance. Our emergency medicine physicians stabilize your condition as quickly as possible to prepare you for the next step of care or discharge.
Our emergency care services
When you're experiencing an emergency, you need fast, experienced care. Our emergency specialists give you that care, assessing and treating you as an individual.
What you can expect from our emergency care
Our emergency teams are fully equipped to act fast to treat acute and critical conditions. We have a streamlined process for assessing and stabilizing emergency situations.
Triage
When you arrive in our emergency room (ER), we begin a triage process to determine what type of care you need. Please be prepared to provide the following information when you arrive at our emergency department:
- Name and date of birth
- Driver’s license or another form of identification
- Reason for visit
Initial assessment
Our emergency specialists initially check your vital signs, which may include additional tests to fully understand your medical needs.
Treatment
You will then be moved to an exam room for additional assessment, monitoring and treatment, and if necessary, admittance to the hospital. Once your treatment is complete, the physician will prepare discharge paperwork so you can leave.
Discharge
Before you leave, we will collect payment and insurance information. Your nurse will provide you with written instructions on how to care for yourself when you get home, prescriptions (if applicable) and any ongoing care you may need. We can also help you schedule a follow-up appointment with a specialist or primary care physician if needed.
