Emergency Services: What to expect at the ER

Triage

Every patient will be individually assessed and treated based on the severity of their illness or injury. This triage process allows our team to focus on patients requiring lifesaving treatment first.

Please be prepared to provide the following information when you arrive at the ER

  • Name and date of birth
  • Driver’s license or other form of identification
  • Reason for visit

Initial assessment

Our emergency specialists initially check your vital signs. This may include additional tests to fully understand your medical needs.

Treatment

You will then be moved to an exam room for additional assessment, monitoring and treatment, and if necessary, admittance to the hospital. Once your treatment is complete, the physician will prepare discharge paperwork so you can leave.

Discharge

Before you leave, we will collect payment and insurance information. Your nurse will provide you with written instructions on how to care for yourself when you get home, prescriptions (if applicable) and follow-up treatment if needed. We can also help you schedule a follow-up appointment with a specialist or primary care physicians if needed.
