Three TriStar Summit Outpatient Therapists are headed to Honduras

Most coworkers who want to hang out after work just head out for a happy hour drink or a trivia night together, right?

Three therapists from TriStar Summit outpatient clinic decided to spend the entire Labor Day weekend together — on a medical mission trip to a children's orphanage to Honduras in Central America. Pretty awesome! (Suddenly my plans for a Labor Day inflatable pool float with virgin margaritas feel a little lame. But I digress.)

Big ups to Aubrey Poythress, Raynor Murphy and Marie Woodlee, who are traveling with Franklin nonprofit hearts2honduras to train staff there in working with severely ill malnourished kids with developmental disabilities. The therapists also will be medical equipment and feeding supplies with them.

Aubrey, an occupational therapist, has been going on medical mission trips to the Honduras since she was 15. Marie, a physical therapist, already has been to Honduras twice with the same nonprofit.

"These kids are so severe and complex that they need a team to provide the specialized care which they require," Marie said, adding she's psyched to be making this next trip with Aubrey and Raynor.

"We all work really well together at TriStar Summit and we all three go above and beyond for our pediatric families," she said. "I knew exactly who I needed to call when developing this special medical trip.”

Safe travels, ladies, and God bless.
